The purpose of the EMS is to assist in ensuring the sustainability of projects or plans, in terms of environmental and socio-economic criteria, by providing a range of environmental services that can be applied at a strategic regional level or a site-specific scale. Available services include:
- Water Use Licence Application (WULA) Process
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Process
- Environmental Compliance Monitoring and Auditing (ECO) (Section 24 of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998).
- Public Participation Process (Chapter 6 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 as amended).
- Management of environmental Specialists (Heritage and Palaeontological, Wetland, Ecological, Agriculture, Floodline, Geo-hydrological, geo-technical specialists, etc.
